Ather Energy was founded in 2013 by Tarun Mehta and Swapnil Jain, two engineering graduates, straight out of college with the audacity to dream of challenging the well established Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) and replacing it with an electric drive. The company has built India’s first smart and connected electric scooters, the Ather 450 product line because it believes that the future of personal mobility is headed in that direction.
Ather is one of the few start-ups in India within the automotive industry to have products and services which are an amalgamation of clean design and engineering. The company’s offerings today include the Ather 450X and Ather 450 Plus scooters, including public and private charging infrastructure and innovative ownership plans. Ather is building a complete ecosystem for electric vehicles in India powered by indigneous design, locally manufactured. The company is expanding its footprint across the country and will be in about 26 cities in the coming months.
