The Brand

Autocar India was first published in September 1999 and over the years has earned a good reputation for its high level of editorial content and production standards. What started out as a monthly magazine has today grown into India’s largest automotive publication spanning virtually every form of media from the print magazine to a website, a YouTube channel, social media as well as a weekly television show. Autocar India’s content is also published across several leading newspapers like the Hindu and the Mint while the editorial team are regular speakers on television and at various automotive events.

The Background

Autocar India is published by Haymarket SAC Publishing (India) Pvt. Ltd. a joint venture between Haymarket and Sorabjee Automotive Communications and is the Indian edition of ‘Autocar’ a weekly British automobile magazine published by Haymarket Motoring Publications Ltd. 

Autocar was first published in 1895, and refers to itself as “the world’s oldest car magazine”.  Autocar also lays claim to the fact that they invented the road test in 1928 and the detailed and highly instrumented road test is something that is till date religiously followed in India too where beyond the first reviews Autocar India continues to put cars and bikes through a structured and instrumented road test and is the only publication to currently do so.
